MTB round - from Bischofsheim to Oberweißenbrunn, to the Brendquelle and the Himmeldunkberg - Rhön
Mountainbiking
Quiet, promising tour a little off the mainstream.
difficult
Distance 15.6 km
We bike past the three schools in Bischofsheim, mostly on gravel, meadow and forest paths to the parking lot at the Arnsberg ski lift. The path climbs through Oberweißenbrunn in the direction of Rockenstein and after a few meters turns left to reach Jägers Brönn after a short hedgerow trail. Several fountains are lined up on the ascent to the Brendquelle. Just before you reach the spring, there is a very steep descent of about 100 m along a footpath with steps.
This section is only suitable for really experienced and technically adept mountain bikers!
From the Brendquelle it is a bit uphill until you reach the Himmeldunkberg with its great view. From the "Hohe Hölle" it rushes down to Bischofsheim. But if you're going too fast, you'll miss the fantastic Rhön panorama, especially on the Gibitzenhöhe.

The tourist paths of the Rhön are mostly also used by other active people (hikers, mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers, horse riders, cross-country skiers, etc.).We ask all active nature sports enthusiasts to be considerate of each other. Of course, the same applies to nature - it is worth protecting. In the Rhön, nature sports should therefore only be practiced in daylight on designated paths and areas.
- In the Rhön, the paths are shared. With mutual consideration, nobody needs to get angry.
- It is best to drive on trails and paths. Across the meadow - don't do that!
- Take the memories with you and your rubbish!
- Never drive faster than you can stop.
- At night (and in winter) the forest belongs to the animals.
We recommend that you only ride the mountain bike circuits in the summer season (May-October).
