The route goes slightly uphill past the engagement temple to the B279. We then drive parallel to the main road in the direction of Oberweißenbrunn. After a short ascent you reach the bench above the lime kiln fountain. You then reach the "Honich-Brönn" through the forest at the Honigschlag.

You now have to follow the HOCHRHÖNER premium hiking trail for a while to get to the valley station of the Arnsberg II ski lift. However, the ruins of Osterburg can only be reached by bike if you share the paths with the hikers. From the ruins you have a fantastic all-round view of Bischofsheim and the surrounding mountains of the Rhön.

The partially steep and slippery gravel descent brings the mountain biker back to Böschemer Marktplatz.

Author’s recommendation

In addition to the ruins of Osterburg itself, the exhibition in the Rentamt in Bischofsheim is also worth a visit. This is how biking and culture become a "CoolTour".

Safety information

The tourist paths of the Rhön are mostly used by other active people (hikers, mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers, horse riders, cross-country skiers, etc.).

We ask all active nature sports enthusiasts to show consideration for one another. Of course, the same applies to nature - it is worth protecting. In the Rhön, nature sports should therefore only be practiced in daylight on designated paths and areas.

  • In the Rhön, the paths are shared.
  • With mutual consideration, nobody has to get angry.
  • Trails and paths are the best. Across the meadow - you can't do it!
  • Take the memory with you and your garbage!
  • Never drive faster than you can stop. At night (and in winter) the forest belongs to the animals.

We recommend that you only ride the mountain bike circuits in the summer season (May-October).
