The circular route runs through three completely different nature reserves, each of which is a very typical habitat for the Rhön. Starting from near-natural deciduous forests on the Gangolfsberg, you hike to the stream floodplains of the Els with extensive meadows and finally arrive at the extensive limestone grasslands on the Dünsberg. This offers an extraordinary view of the Kreuzberg and the Rhön foreland. The "Gänsebrunnen" with pond and seating area offers a place to rest.

Author’s recommendation

Die Wanderung kann um eine lehrreiche Tour erweitert werden: den Naturlehrpfad am Gangolfsberg.

Safety information

The tourist routes of the Rhön are mostly used by other active people (hikers, mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers, riders, cross-country skiers, etc.)

We ask all active nature sports enthusiasts to show consideration for one another. The same applies of course to nature - it is worth protecting. In the Rhön, therefore, nature sports should only be practiced in daylight on designated paths and areas.
