The Rhön Rundweg 3, starting from Poppenhausen, leads to the Kalvarienberg. On the way to its summit you walk past the individual stations of the Way of the Cross. At the end of the Way of the Cross is the stone chapel, which was built to commemorate the plague in 1736. The lovingly designed St. Mary's Grotto is particularly worth seeing on Kalvarienberg.

Perhaps the most beautiful view of the village in the Rhön Valley in the Lütter valley opens up from the crucifixion group.

Safety information

The tourist routes of the Rhön are mostly used by other active people (hikers, mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers, riders, cross-country skiers, etc.).

We ask all active nature sports enthusiasts to show consideration for one another. The same applies, of course, to nature - it is worth protecting. In the Rhön, therefore, nature sports should only be practiced in daylight on designated paths and areas.
