On this demanding tour, you can experience the Rhön in all its facets with beech forests, basalt blocks and mountain meadows. Small streams partly cross the paths and the basalt rock "Kalte Buche" invites you to linger with an impressive view. At the basalt lake, a former quarry that is now filled with water, you can stop for a break. The scenic, very attractive hiking trail runs mostly on easy-to-use nature trails. Benches and seating areas for resting are plentiful.

Author’s recommendation

Those who come to the Rhön in October can watch the traditional Ginolfs pasture drive. The pasture festival also invites you to socialize.

Safety information

The tourist routes of the Rhön are mostly used by other active people (hikers, mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers, riders, cross-country skiers, etc.)

We ask all active nature sports enthusiasts to show consideration for one another. The same applies of course to nature - it is worth protecting. In the Rhön, therefore, nature sports should only be practiced in daylight on designated paths and areas.
