The circular route starts at the Guckaisee, an idyllically situated bathing and fishing lake in the Rhön. This lake is a popular destination not only for water lovers but also for hikers.

The circular hike should be walked clockwise. As a result, the upcoming ascent to the horse's head started uphill. Downhill this can be a very difficult section of the trail, especially in damp weather conditions.

Once on the horse's head, the view opens up to Wasserkuppe, the surrounding Rhön landscape and far beyond. The horse's head is therefore the perfect resting point after the demanding climb. If you want, you can take a detour to Wasserkuppe.

The circular route now leads over a short spur on the Wasserkuppe area back into the valley to the starting point of the hike, the Guckaisee.

Safety information

The tourist routes of the Rhön are mostly used by other active people (hikers, mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers, riders, cross-country skiers, etc.).

We ask all active nature sports enthusiasts to show consideration for one another. The same applies, of course, to nature - it is worth protecting. In the Rhön, therefore, nature sports should only be practiced in daylight on designated paths and areas.
