Extratour Der Ehrenberger - Ehrenberg - Rhön
The hike begins in the Ehrenberg district of Wüstensachsen. From the town center there, the first few meters of the extra tour lead out of town and to the outdoor pool with paddling pond and mini golf course. In the kiosk there, tasty little things can be purchased during the operating hours of the public outdoor pool.
It is a leisurely way above this before the path leads up to the Schafstein a short time later. This Rhön mountain inspires with its unique beauty, as it awaits visitors with two basalt block heaps. This breathtaking natural spectacle can only be reached on foot. The basalt block heaps offer a great view of the Ulster Valley and the Milseburg as far as Fulda.
After leaving the Schafstein, the round tour continues through deciduous forests and past meadows in the direction of Reulbach. After a leisurely hike along the edge of the forest, we reach the Saint Martin chapel above the Ehrenberg district. It was built between 2003 and 2005 and today offers a great place to take a break from the hike.
The next step is to cross the Ehrenberg, after which the extra tour is named. After hiking through the forest, it goes continuously downhill in the direction of the starting point of the hike - Wüstensachsen. Before you arrive back at the swimming pool and shortly afterwards in the town center, you can take a short detour to visit the local grotto.

Safety information
The tourist paths of the Rhön are mostly used by other active people (hikers, mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers, horse riders, cross-country skiers, etc.).We ask all active nature sports enthusiasts to show consideration for one another. Of course, the same applies to nature - it is worth protecting. In the Rhön, nature sports should therefore only be practiced in daylight on designated paths and areas.
