This beautiful circular trail, which leads over a large meadow area in a wonderful landscape, proves that the Black Mountains do not only consist of forest areas.

There is an open meadow landscape between the Berghaus Rhön and Schildeck. The cross-country skiing route is a good 4 kilometers across the snowy expanses of this quiet area.

On the tour you can enjoy the white nature and the silence that the wintry landscape brings with it.

This tour is not accessible by public transport.

Getting there

The circular trail can be easily reached by car via the A7. Leave the autobahn at exit 95 Bad Brueckenau / Wildflecken. Then take the B286 in the direction of Bad Kissingen / Schildeck / Märzgrund. Follow this road for approx. 1.5 km and turn left in Schildeck onto Rhönstraße. At the fork in the road after about 2 km, keep straight. After 1.6 km you have reached the Berghaus Rhön destination and the hiking car park there.
