The Thuringian Rhönhaus am Ellenbogen is a popular destination. In winter, the great circular trail can be used.
Distance 2.4 km
The Rhön offers a varied winter route network with different levels of difficulty. The trail leads past the rustic Thüringer Rhönhaus mountain hut. A stop is always worthwhile. Through the mystical forest area around the mountain Ellenbogen it goes on the trail.
The viewing platform of Noah's Sails should definitely be walked on.

Getting thereThe hiking car park can be accessed via the A7, among other things. To do this, leave the autobahn at exit 92 Fulda-Mitte and drive onto the B458 in the direction of Hilders. Follow the road until you reach the village of Batten. Here you turn right at the T-junction in the direction of Ehrenberg-Wüstensachsen. In the village of Seiferts, turn left in the direction of Birx/Frankenheim and Hochrhönstraße. Shortly after leaving the town, turn left in the direction of Frankenheim/Birx. After leaving Frankenheim, shortly after entering a forest, you will reach the turn-off to Ellenbogen. Follow this and a short time later you will reach the Ellenbogen hiking car park.
